Why Share?

Handwritten letters, picking up the phone to actually call someone, and going to get your film developed to see your pictures are in the past. Email, texting, Facebook, Instagram, tweeting, etc. have become the way of life. Since these technologies and social media platforms are at everyone’s fingertips, it becomes a question of if you need to use them to sell your home. There are many different viewpoints about using social media, and if it could help or hurt your home selling process.

What do you really pay for when renting?

I recently read an article titled “Do You Really Think Your Landlord Pays for Repairs?” (Read It Here) from a real estate website. This article references another article that was written for Nasdaq.com about if someone should buy or rent in today’s market. Many people who qualify as first time home buyers, don’t believe that they will be able to afford what comes after once they actually buy the home. As stated in the article there are the expenses of “taxes and insurance, plus maintenance and repairs” when it comes to buying a home. But who is to say that you won’t be paying these things while you are renting.

Do I need a lawyer?
-While required in some states, a lawyer is not required for a Wisconsin real estate transaction. Now does that mean you can’t consult a lawyer? Nope! In fact I will tell you that I am in no way a lawyer, and what I say should not be taken as legal advice. I went to a 4 year college, not law school.

Rent Vs. Own

It’s always been a big topic of debate if in the long run it is cheaper to rent than to own. I can see the view points of both sides, where each have their own pros and cons. Instead of telling you what I think is best, let’s just go over some facts and you can decide for yourself.

RENTING PROS

  • You don’t own the home, so you aren’t tied down. This can allow you to travel or even move cross-country if you wanted to.
  • If something breaks, you get to call someone else to fix it. It’s not your worry.
  • Sometimes your appliances are included in your rent.
  • You’re credit won’t get hurt as much if you miss a payment.
  • You can move out once your lease is up, without looking for someone to replace you.
